Varkulis banned for cup clash
Widnes back-rower Richard Varkulis will miss tonight’s Northern Rail Cup quarter final against Barrow after being handed a one-match ban.
Varkulis, 28, was placed on report following a dangerous tackle on Batley full-back Johnny Campbell during their recent Championship clash at the Stobart Stadium.
The RFL Disciplinary Committee found the former Warrington and Halifax man guilty of a Grade B offence and also fined him £50.
Widnes currently sit bottom of the Frontline Fair Play Index.
