Wakefield announce trio of departures
Wakefield have announced the departures of Chris Green, Alex Walker and Oliver Greensmith.
Green, 32, signed for Trinity midway through the 2019 season from Hull, and went on to make 29 appearances for the club.
Walker, 26, made the move from London Broncos ahead of the 2020 season, and has featured for Featherstone on loan in 2021, including their Million Pound Game defeat to Toulouse. The full-back leaves the club having made just ten appearances due to injuries.
Greensmith, a product of the club’s academy, made his sole appearance for Wakefield in the fixture with Salford in July. The outside back has recently been playing on loan at Doncaster RLFC and has featured heavily during their games towards the end of the season, which included a play-off run in League 1.
The departures will allow recently appointed head coach Willie Poching to re-shape his squad ahead of the upcoming 2022 Super League season.
Hooker Josh Wood also recently left the club to join newly-promoted Championship side Barrow Raiders. The 25-year-old made his Super League debut in 2015 for Salford before joining Wakefield in 2020. He joins Barrow on a one-year deal, who have also recently added experienced forward Danny Langtree to their squad.
Earlier in August, Trinity confirmed the signings of Tom Lineham and Liam Wood for the 2022 campaign.
Hood, a Scotland international, began his career with Leeds and was captain of the Centurions in 2021. He signed a two-year deal while Lineham has signed until the end of 2024 from Warrington.
