Wakefield sign Tony Gigot as Lee Kershaw agrees new deal
Wakefield have signed France international Tony Gigot and handed a new deal to winger Lee Kershaw.
Gigot, 29, left Catalans at the end of last season and spent time with Toronto earlier this season.
He said: “I’m really happy to be here.
“(With the lockdown) it’s been a long break for me and I’m just happy to get a chance to be back on the field and helping Wakefield Trinity.”
The Lance Todd Trophy winner in Catalans’ historic Challenge Cup final triumph in 2018, Gigot has signed a deal until the end of next season.
Also staying until the end of 2021 is winger Lee Kershaw, who has spent time on loan at Oldham, and scored a try on his debut for Trinity against Leeds.
Coach Chris Chester said: “I’m delighted that Kersh has agreed the deal.
“It’s a deal that club, player and manager are happy with. It’s all about being patient without rushing into things and we got there in the end.
(On Gigot) “To be honest, I’m over the moon because he’s a player that I have admired over the last few years.
“I tried to sign him when I was at Hull KR and when we found out he was going to be available again we jumped at the chance.”
