Walker enjoys dream Leeds debut
Jack Walker enjoyed a debut to remember for Leeds with a hat-trick in the Rhinos’ 64-28 Challenge Cup victory over Doncaster on Friday.
Tries by Ash Handley, Rob Burrow, Mitch Garbutt and Danny McGuire put Leeds 22-0 ahead, before Kieran Cross finally got the visitors on the scoresheet after after 16 minutes.
Walker then made his mark with a quick-fire trio with Garbutt adding his second of the game late in the half to make it 44-4 at the break.
Jordan Lilley scored in the corner early in the second half to extend the score to 48-4, but Ryan Wright hit back for the Dons soon after.
Burrow added his second of the night, before Louis Sheriff and Charlie Martin crossed for Doncaster to reduce the deficit to 32 points.
Mikolaj Oledzki bagged a debut try for Leeds, but the Dons refused to lie down as Kyle Kesik and Sheriff again took them to the 28-point mark.
Joel Moon scored late on with Lilley adding the kick to make the score 64-28 in Leeds’ favour at full-time.
