Wane out to right last year’s wrongs

Shaun Wane wants to extinguish the disappointment from last season when his Wigan side face London Broncos in Saturday’s Challenge Cup semi-final.

Wane, 48, says it took him ‘a lot of weeks’ to get over 2012’s last-four loss to Leeds Rhinos.

“When we lost the game I knew we’d undersold ourselves with our performance,” Wane told BBC Radio Manchester.

“I was devastated and it took me a lot of weeks to get over it.

“We have got a different set of players this year and we have been working hard to make sure everything that happened that day doesn’t happen this time.”

Wane, a Challenge Cup winner during his playing career, says that even though London are bottom of Super League it will still be a tough battle to secure a trip to Wembley.

He said, “The arrival of Jamie Soward will have lifted their whole squad and they are probably looking to put in the 80 minutes of their lives.

“We need to earn the right to play and be at our best, because this is a win at all costs game.”
