Ward signs new Quins deal
Harlequins prop Danny Ward has signed a one-year contract extension at Twickenham Stoop.
Ward, 29, began his career at Leeds Rhinos, winning two Challenge Cup winners medals and a Super League Grand Final, before moving on to Castleford and Hull KR.
He moved to the capital in 2008 and will now remain at the club until at least the end of 2010.
Ward said: “There was never a question of me wanting to go anywhere else so when the club offered me a new contract and I was delighted to sign it.
“I’m happy down here at Quins, they’re a great bunch of lads and I can’t see myself playing anywhere else.”
Speaking on his side’s trip to France to play Catalans Dragons later this week he said: “It’s always nice travelling to Perpignan for the weekend and playing somewhere different. We’ve not had too good a record against them in my time here, so I’m looking forward to getting over there and putting things right.”
Head coach, Brian McDermott, praised Ward’s contribution to the sides attacking prowess.
He said: “Danny is a player who you could describe as he does what it says on the tin, he goes out there and performs. A lot of our attack come off the back of a Danny Ward play the balls. He is Mr. Consistent.”
