Warrington have announced a dual-registration partnership with Championship side Widnes for the 2020 season.

The partnership will see the two clubs work together during the season, including performance teams and squad players available for dual-registration.

Karl Fitzpatrick, Warrington chief executivesaid: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Widnes. As clubs we have always had a health rivalry but strong relationship, this new partnership can only be beneficial to both parties.

“Admittedly, with the introduction of the reserves there may be limited opportunities to dual reg players, but there will be times when we need players to gain game time and we may not have a reserves fixture. The partnership will provide another platform for players from both sides to play.”

Phil Finney, Chief Executive of Widnes Vikings added: “We are delighted to be partnering up with Warrington for this season.

“Whilst we have always carried a rivalry with them on the field, we are enhancing a strong relationship with them off it, emphasised by this partnership moving forward.

“This partnership also offers opportunities for us to take on players through dual-registration during the season that can add to the competitive squad we’ve built during the off-season.

“We see this as a hugely positive step forward for us on the eve of the new season, and is a partnership we can benefit from.

“We look forward to working with Warrington Wolves and seeing how this relationship develops throughout 2020.”
