Although this year’s table was decided on win percentage, the Warriors did enjoy the best record out of the 11 clubs – winning 13 of their 17 games, earning them two more points than nearest challengers St Helens and Warrington.
It brings to an end a dominant two years from St Helens, who averaged 90% and 87% win rate in their minor premierships.
In 1998 and 2012, Wigan went on to add Grand Final glory to the League Leaders’ Shield – a feat that has been achieved on 10 occasions in the 22 seasons of the Grand Final prior to this one.
