Watkins: Meninga-Bennett rivalry is good
England centre Kallum Watkins believes the growing rivlary between coaches Mal Meninga and Wayne Bennett is good for rugby league.
Meninga has aimed several verbal barbs at his fellow Queensland Bennett, who was his main rival for the Australian coaching job.
Several Kangaroos players have also taken aim at Bennett during the Four Nations.
So far the England coach has declined to respond.
“It’s probably because he’s coaching the Poms,” Watkins told The Sydney Morning Herald.
“They’re having a bit of a dig at him but that’s how it is, isn’t it? A bit of fire, a bit of entertainment.
“That’s what we need in our sport. It’s interesting so it’s good.”
