Webster rues missed chances
Failing to convert a couple of early chances was a critical mistake in the derby, according to Hull KR coach James Webster.
Rovers are now set to take part in the Qualifiers following defeat against Hull FC at the KCOM Stadium.
“Full credit to Hull, I thought they played really well, very powerful side that if you give them too much ball like we did it just saps away too much energy out of you,” Webster told Sky Sports.
“We needed to take our chances and we had two in the 1st half and we weren’t able to come up with them and a couple of things hurt us towards the back end.
“When they won a few penalties that didn’t help matters and a team like Hull are a bit too strong and a bit too powerful to allow that continual kind of ball.”
Webster admitted his side have the experience to earn some positive results in the upcoming Middle 8s.
“We will be alright, we will dust ourselves down and come back against Leeds next week.
“A week off against Leeds will be fantastic for us and we will attack those middle 8s with as much as gusto as we can.”
He was also happy that Josh Mantellato made his return after a long spell out injured with a broken arm.
“It is well-documented the injury run we have had this year and It’s great that Josh has been passed by all the doctors necessary to be able to play in the game.
“I thought he made a pretty good effort for his 1st run out.”
