Wests sack coach Taylor
Wests Tigers have sacked coach Jason Taylor after just three games of the NRL season.
Wests have suffered two heavy defeats in their first three games of the season, including a 46-6 hammering by Canberra at the weekend.
Taylor’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but the Tigers hierachy have decided to act fast.
“Our position has always been to make sure that the head coach’s contract is tied to performance and that hasn’t changed,” said Wests Tigers chair Marina Go.
“We are committed to building a side that will be in a position to win NRL Premierships and believe that this decision is the correct one for the future of the club.”
Current Wests Tigers assistant coach Andrew Webster will act as interim coach, with Todd Payten and Ivan Cleary reported as being in contention for the job on a permanent basis.
