What the coaches said ahead of McGuire and Amone tribunals
Leigh’s Adrian Lam and Warrington’s Daryl Powell have spoken to the media ahead of Tuesday’s tribunals for players Tom Amone and Josh McGuire following their Grade F charges.
Lam remains a confident head coach ahead of prop forward Amone’s tribunal hearing on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, Warrington boss Powell kept his cards close to his chest when asked about the club’s approach to new recruit McGuire’s hearing.
The Super League pair were both hit with Grade F charges for unacceptable language during the pre-season friendly between Warrington and Leigh at the Halliwell Jones Stadium two weeks ago.
McGuire, 32, was sent off during his first appearance for the club for the alleged incident. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Amone remained on the field as Wire claimed a 22-10 victory.
Coaches comment on forthcoming tribunals
Speaking to Love Rugby League on Tuesday afternoon, hours before the hearing, Lam said: “We’re very confident with our player tonight.
“We’ll go through the processes and do what we need to do and I’m sure everything will be fine by the end of the night.”
Asked whether it has impacted the club’s approach and training to Friday’s Super League opener against Salford, Lam responded: “It’s business as usual for us. We have a particular system that we work to here, and whether they’re (players) in or out, everyone gets the opportunity to train in their position.
“It’s just business as usual for us.”
Meanwhile, Powell refused to expand on whether McGuire will plead guilty or not to the charge. He said during his press conference on Tuesday: “I’m not going to comment on that at the moment. We’ll get set up to go into the disciplinary and take it from there.”
