Wheeldon makes Castleford move
Castleford have signed prop Scott Wheeldon from London on a two-year deal.
Wheeldon, 27, made 31 appearances for the Broncos after joining from Hull KR in May 2012, and previously played for Hull.
Tigers coach Daryl Powell said: “Scott is a tough, uncompromising player with a strong defence and is somebody who I have kept an eye on since his time on Humberside.
“He has a quality offload and pass game to go with his strong ball carrying ability. I’m looking forward to working with him next season.”
Wheeldon, who was under contract at London until the end of 2014, secured a release from his deal, as the club continues to battle problems and remain without a confirmed place to play for next season.
He said: “I was over the moon when the opportunity came for me to sign for Castleford.
“There were a couple of options for me but I know from playing there in the past that they have very good and very loyal fans.
“I’ve heard very good reports about Daryl Powell from people that I know within the game and I was quite happy with the things that we spoke about when I met him about further improvements in my game.
“It was also an opportunity for me to move back home which I was looking to do. I’ve enjoyed my time at London, but it’s been a little bit difficult at times financially and for other reasons as well. So I was impressed with the all-round package really.”
