Whitehaven hunt for new coach

Correspondent

Whitehaven are stepping up the hunt for their next coach and have invited interested parties to apply for the role.

Haven were coached this term by club legend and record try scorer David Seeds, who managed to guide them to a play-off berth in his debut coaching season, despite starting the season on -9 points.

Seeds, who has recently been nominated for Co-operative Championship 1 Coach of the Year, announced he was stepping down from the position due to family reasons after the play-off defeat at Doncaster.

Many at Whitehaven assumed that this paved the way for former player, and long serving Harlequins forward, Rob Purdham, to take over the reigns after previously signalling his intent to move back to the West Cumbria area.

However the club have today stated that any applications should be sent to the club for the position of Coach/Player Coach by no later than the 30th of September 2011.

Interested parties are required to send applications to Haven CEO Barry Richardson at Whitehaven RLFC, Coach Road, Whitehaven, Cumbria, CA28 9DD.
