Whitehaven offer free entry to all NHS staff for first game back

Whitehaven are offering free entry to all NHS staff for their first home game once play resumes.

The UK rugby league season has been suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak that has swept the nation.

A return date has yet to be announced – but Championship club Whitehaven have made a classy gesture by offering free entry to all NHS staff to their first home game at the Recreation Ground upon the game’s return.

A club spokesman said: “It’s not just rugby league doing it tough at the moment. Coronavirus has seen all sense of normality go for a lot of us.

“One aspect of life that has remained is the dedication and hard work of our National Health Service, many of who have sacrificed time and living with their own loved ones to fight for our loved ones in this pandemic.

“We know this may be a while away yet but when rugby league does return to the Recreation Ground, we are proud to offer for our first home fixture free entry to all NHS staff.”
