Whitehaven sign duo from Hull as Geronimo Doyle suffers broken arm
Whitehaven have signed Davy Litten and Jacob Hookem from Super League’s Hull on short-term loan deals.
Both Hookem and Litten, products of the Black & Whites’ Centre of Excellence programme, have featured for FC’s reserves side in recent weeks.
Hookem, 20, made his senior debut for Hull back in 2021 against Wakefield. Litten is yet to make his first senior appearance. The pair having both been part of the first-team environment since the start of the 2020 season.
They will join Hull team-mate Marcus Walker, who also joined Whitehaven on loan earlier this week.
Brett Hodgson: ‘This is a great opportunity’
Hull head coach Brett Hodgson said: “This is a great opportunity for both Jacob and Davy, as well as Marcus, to get some game time under their belt in a really competitive division.
“It’s important that our young players are playing week in, week out, at this stage of their careers. This will help them continue to develop. And heading up to Cumbria gives them the opportunity to be involved in competitive fixtures every weekend over the next few weeks.
“Jacob has just returned from a foot injury. So, some matches in the Championship will help him get back into the swing of things. Davy and Marcus have shown some real promise for the reserves in recent weeks so this will allow them to continue that progression.
“It will also be great for their off-field development experiencing a new environment and living away from home for a short period, while it also allows us to further enhance the great work the club are doing in the Cumbria region.”
Whitehaven suffer Doyle injury
Full-back Geronimo Doyle left the field during the club’s clash with Sheffield in the Championship. Scans have revealed that the former Swinton outside-back has suffered a broken arm. He will be sidelined for a number of weeks.
Meanwhile, Workington Town have signed Will Tate on a two-week loan period from Hull KR.
