Whitehaven to tackle five-day challenge in aid of local causes

Whitehaven players are doing a five-day challenge as they aim to raise funds for good causes in the local area.

The Championship club have already raised more than £1,000, with the money being split between Scrub Hub, Kebsi 13, Hungry Caterpillar and Number 11/The Sandwich Man.

The challenge is as follows: 

  • Monday: 5k run
  • Tuesday: 10k bike ride
  • 200 burpees
  • 300 push ups
  • Eat five boiled eggs without a drink

The local causes:

Scrub Hub – a group of volunteers who have got together to make gowns for the NHS and care homes in the local area. They are trying to raise £3,000 to buy fabrice to make up to almost 300 gowns.

Kebsi 13 – to support former rugby league player and coach Kevin Gartland in his continued battle with motor neurone disease.

Number 11/The Sandwich Man – these two businesses have come together to provide meals to key workers in the era such as the NHS, care homes, postal workers and others. Funds will help them to continue this.

Hungry Caterpillar – another business supplying food to key workers across our area, providing meals to the emergency services and others across West Cumbria. Funding will help this continue.
