Whiting awarded testimonial

Hull FC‘s Richard Whiting has been recognised for his outstanding service to the game by being granted a 12-month testimonial by the RFL for next year.

Whiting, 28, came through the ranks at Featherstone Rovers and signed for the Airlie Birds in 2004.

He has since gone on to play 221 times for the Black and Whites, scoring 70 tries in the process.

That feat is made all the more impressive, when lengthy spells on the side lines with unfortunate breaks to both his arm and leg are taken into consideration.

During his ten years with the club, he has become known for his versatility having played in every position in the team, as well as being one of the hardest working players on the community scene.

Whiting has twice been voted the club’s Community Player of the Year, as well as winning the Super League Community Player of the Year award in 2009.

He is also a firm favourite with the Hull FC fans, and they have recognised his contribution to the side in recent years by voting him the Supporters’ Player of the Year in both 2011 and 2012.
