Hull FC stalwart Richard Whiting has signed a new two-year deal that will take him into his tenth year with the club.

Whiting, 27, is one of the Airlie Birds most popular players due to his work on and off the pitch.

Since joining from Featherstone Rovers in 2004 Whiting has been a mainstay in the side but has also won awards such as the Super League Community Player of the Year.

The versatile Whiting has been impressive as a loose forward under Peter Gentle. Both player and coach are delighted with the new contract.

Whiting was quoted on hullfc.com as saying: “There is a real belief around the club that we are now going places, so I definitely want to be a part of that. It was a very simple decision for me to make.”

Gentle said: “He understands the game and his role, he gives 110% every week and that is probably why he is so adaptable and can cover many roles for us. There is no-one more deserving of a new deal with the club.”

Whiting has so far made over 180 appearances for the club, scoring 58 tries.
