Widnes confirm Mellor injury

Widnes Vikings have confirmed that Joe Mellor has sustained a knee injury, and is currently wearing a brace on it.

Mellor suffered the injury during the Vikings’ recent friendly against Warrington.

The player is set to see a specialist for further assessment of the problem, but a fairly swift recovery is anticipated by his club.

A Widnes statement reads:

“The club remain confident that Joe will be fit for the start of the forthcoming Betfred Super League campaign. The club will be making no further comment at this stage.”
