Widnes prop banned for four matches
Widnes prop Gareth Haggerty has been banned for four matches after an RFL disciplinary hearing last night.
Haggerty, 28, was found guilty of a reckless high tackle on Sheffield’s Sam Barlow in the Vikings’ 44-30 Championship win at the Don Valley Stadium on March 14.
The former Salford and Harlequins forward, who was also fined £50, was deemed to have intentionally struck Barlow in the face with his forearm in the 56th minute of the match.
The Disciplinary Committee also handed down suspensions to two Hunslet Hawks players following separate incidents in the Co-operative Championship One club’s home defeat by Oldham on March 12.
Hooker Darren Robinson was banned for three matches and £50 fine for using foul and abusive language towards – and questioning the integrity of – referee Chris Leatherbarrow in the 77th minute, an offence which led to him being sent-off.
Hunslet loose forward David March was suspended for two matches and also fined £50 after being found guilty of a dangerous throw in the same fixture.
