Widnes seeking legal advice on Anthony Gelling and insist he is in 2019 squad

Widnes are expecting Anthony Gelling to arrive for pre-season training, despite him already training with Catalans.

The Cook Islands international has been training with the Dragons this week, despite having agreed to join the Vikings on a two-year deal back in July.

In a short statement released by the Widnes club, it read: “Widnes Vikings are aware of the media speculation regarding Anthony Gelling over the previous 24 hours.

“The Vikings can confirm that Anthony Gelling is a contracted member of the playing squad at Widnes Vikings, and is expected to report for pre-season training ahead of the 2019 season.

“The club are currently taking advice on the matter and can make no further comment at this time.

“Widnes Vikings will keep the club’s supporters updated when more information is available.”
