Widnes have ended their streak of eight straight Super League defeats with a stirring second half-comeback victory over Huddersfield.

The Vkings were down 16-0, and look destined for another loss, but fought back to beat the Giants 24-20 at home.

Nathan Mason opened the scoring and then Danny Brough got the second, picking up the ball from a vacant Vikings play the ball to run almost 100 metres to score.

Joe Wardle then powered over, before Corey Thompson put Widnes on the scoreboard.

The Giants took a 4-16 lead into the half-time break. In the second half Joe Mellor crossed before Stefan Marsh found his way over to give the Vikings a two-point lead.

Mellor’s second gave them some breathing space until Jermaine McGillvary got a consolation try in the corner.
