Wigan launch Scottish Borders campaign

Wigan Warriors are set to visit Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, to host a two-day training camp for youngsters on July 30 and 31.

Scotland coach Steve McCormack will run some of the sessions with the young players, who will be in S1 to S4 at school.

The event will be hosted by Gala RFC, a famous Scottish rugby union club who have produced scores of internationals who have worn the dark blue in the other code.

These include record Scottish points scorer Chris Paterson, flanker David Leslie and British Lions stand-off Gregor Townsend.

Now the young rugby talent that is present in the region will have a chance to either improve their rugby league skills, or learn the game for the first time.

Union players who want to improve specific aspects of their game are also welcomed.

McCormack will also host a coaching masterclass, accompanied by his Wigan colleagues, for local coaches ahead of the weekend, on Thursday, July 30.
