Wigan prop Ramon Silva gets chance on loan at Widnes
Wigan’s Brazilian prop Ramon Silva has joined Championship side Widnes on an initial two-week loan deal.
Silva, 20, joined the Warriors from London Broncos on a two-year deal and is yet to make his first team debut.
He links up with the Vikings, whose next game is against Leigh on Good Friday.
Widnes were beaten 12-6 by Newcastle on Monday night, their fourth successive defeat.
Their game day 17 for that match included three on-loan forwards from Super League clubs.
Eribe Doro is at the DCBL Stadium on a season-long loan deal from neighbours Warrington.
Salford duo Danny Addy and Jack Wells also linked up with Widnes on two-week loan deals.
Ramon Silva background
Silva moved to the UK from Sao Paulo as a three-year-old.
He has a background in mixed martial arts and started playing rugby league at the age of 15 with Elmbridge Eagles.
After just four games, he was picked up by London Broncos.
On signing for Wigan, he said: “It’s the dream to sign for Wigan. I know a lot of people would do anything to get to where I am and have this opportunity. I’m very proud and thankful for the opportunity.
“My plan is to improve as much as I can and to strive to be a key player. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and getting stuck in.
“I’m excited to make everyone proud – my family and friends in Brazil and all the Wigan fans here. I’d also like to say thank you to my parents, especially my dad. He’s helped me to get to where I am today.”
