Abbas Miski in action for Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors have activated the one-year option on Lebanon star Abbas Miski, meaning he will remain with the Super League club for 2024.

The 27-year-old has scored 19 tries in 22 appearances since joining Wigan from London Broncos ahead of the 2022 season.

Miski has been in fine form for the Warriors this season in particular, scoring 11 tries in 13 games.

The Lebanon international, who has represented the Cedars at the last two World Cups, was out of contract at the end of the season but the club have activated the additional season for 2024.

Miski said: “I’m really delighted to have sorted out the one-year option.

“I’m really enjoying my time here with the club.

“It’s a fantastic place to be with a great coaching team and some superb friendships.

“I look forward to achieving something with the club this year and enjoying my time.”

Wigan Warriors coach full of praise for Abbas Miski

Miski bagged a brace to help Wigan beat Huddersfield 22-6 at the DW Stadium on Friday night, joined on the scoresheet by Jai Field and Liam Farrell in the Round 17 victory.

Speaking after the game, Wigan coach Matt Peet said: “I thought he was our man of the match tonight.

“Out of yardage he was excellent, gets his tries and I thought defensively he was very good.

“He’s a pleasure to coach at the moment.”

On Miski’s new deal, Peet added: “Abbas has made this a really easy decision for us.

“His form on the field has been outstanding and is the result of his hard work and dedication.”

Having made his debut with Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL in 2019, Miski initially made the move to England with London Broncos for 2021 before linking up with Wigan on a two-year deal, with the option for 2024.

Miski will now remain with the Warriors until at least the end of the 2024 campaign.
