Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves to feature as Sky Sports confirm coverage of Round 24 in Super League
Two of Super League’s loop fixtures have been selected for broadcast by Sky Sports next week during Round 24 of the competition, including Wigan Warriors’ home clash with Salford Red Devils.
Matt Peet’s side host their North West counterparts at the DW Stadium on Friday, September 1, and that weekend’s coverage has now been fully confirmed.
The pair have already faced off twice this year, with the Cherry and Whites victorious on both occasions. The Warriors first pipped Salford 20-16 on home soil back in March, before triumphing 26-6 on the road in June.
Sky’s broadcast pick of their third clash hasn’t changed any details, with kick-off remaining at 8pm BST.
However, their second pick of the weekend has been affected, with Warrington Wolves’ home encounter against Castleford Tigers now getting underway at 3pm BST the day after, as opposed to the previously scheduled 5.30pm BST.
By the time that game comes around, Warrington could be on a nine-match losing streak. They haven’t won a game since June 10, and their poor run of form saw former Tigers boss Daryl Powell depart the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Cas are still in the midst of a relegation battle, but picked up a much-needed win in their basement battle against Wakefield Trinity last time out.
The trip to Warrington will be Danny Ward’s third game in charge, and also the third time that the pair have met this season given it’s a loop fixture, though the first in Cheshire with the previous two both at the Jungle.
It’s currently level at 1-1, with Warrington winning the first of those meetings in March 38-0, but the most recent seeing the Tigers pick up a 23-14 success, one of just five wins for them so far in 2023.
