Wigan Warriors starlet takes up ‘fantastic opportunity’ with Championship loan move
Wigan Warriors youngster Logan Astley has joined Championship table toppers Featherstone Rovers on an initial one-month loan deal.
The 20-year-old half-back has made two appearances for the Warriors since making his Super League debut against Huddersfield in May 2022.
Astley, who has recently recovered from a hamstring injury, has made a number of appearances for Wigan’s reserves this season having helped the Warriors lift the Reserves Grand Final trophy in 2022.
He has also featured in League for Oldham on dual-registration in 2022 and 2023.
Warriors transition coach John Duffy said: “This is another fantastic opportunity for Logan at a side who are riding high in the Championship.
“I know he’ll enjoy working under Sean Long and we look forward to seeing how he performs.”

Astley is in line to make his Featherstone debut in their trip to Whitehaven on Sunday afternoon.
Featherstone coach Sean Long said: “I’ve had my eye on Logan for quite some time, I’ve been to watch him at training with Wigan and have seen him play for the reserves where he ran the show.
“With Johno Ford out injured, we’re a little light in the spine and I think this is a great opportunity for us and for Logan to see what he can do.”
Astley commented: “I’m really excited to be joining Featherstone at a very exciting time, the club are the top side of the Championship and I’m excited to play my part in the run in to the play-offs.”
Astley initially joins Featherstone on a short-term loan agreement, with the view to extending the loan to the end of the season.
Rovers are currently top of the Championship table, eight points clear of second-placed Toulouse.
