Wigan’s Rob Burrow embroidered shirts now up for auction
The special embroidered shirts worn by Wigan Warriors players in Sunday’s Round 9 Betfred Super League game with Leeds Rhinos – in support of Leeds legend Rob Burrow – are now up for auction.
Every player from the Warriors first team squad chose a word to describe Burrow – who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2019 – and the 17 players who featured against Leeds adorned their chosen work alongside their name on the Wigan home shirt.
The shirts that were worn by the players in the game, as well as jerseys of the first team players who were not involved in the matchday squad, are now all up for auction via the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation eBay page with all proceeds to be donated to the Rob Burrow Fund, which is supporting Rob in dealing with his diagnosis and raising awareness to aid research into MND.

Please note, Jackson Hastings’ shirt is not available to bid for as he gave his shirt to the man himself, Rob Burrow, after the game.
Wigan Warriors executive director, Kris Radlinski, said: “We have always said that we would do something for Rob when Wigan played Leeds in Super League.
“Rather than just a financial gesture, we felt that it was important to let Rob know just what an impact that he had on his fellow players during his time as a player, and his inspirational approach and conduct since his diagnosis. We were all devastated when we heard about Rob’s condition but typically and expectedly, we came together to support him in such a unique way.”
