Wildcats reject Hull KR bid for Cockayne
Hull KR have had a bid for Wakefield winger Ben Cockayne rejected.
Cockayne, 29, was sacked by the Robins in 2011 but they are clearly keen to re-sign him.
However, Wakefield coach Richard Agar was not interested with the options being offered in exchange and failed to deem the move a ‘serious’ bid, although he knows the board may consider future moves.
Agar said, “Chris Chester (Hull KR assistant coach) approached me and offered a deal involving players we were not interested in, so I didn’t view it as a serious offer.
“As coach, Ben is a player I want to keep at the club and would not want to leave. Obviously, if a serious offer came in, that would be out of my hands and something for the board to consider.”
