York Knights set to unveil SuperLeague signing

York City Knights are set to announce a major new signing at Sunday’s match against the Keighley Cougars, 3pm kick off at the Huntington Stadium. The player is a former Superleague star who has made more than 100 appearances in the top tier of the game. Love Rugby League sources believe it to be former Leeds, Hull and Crusaders back Jordan Tansey.

 

His signing will be funded solely by the Squad Builder Fund who following discussions with the Independent Supporters Club have committed to raising the necessary fund over the next ten months. Commenting on the signing Squad Builder Committee member Simon Hall said,

 

“I know that the Knights fans will be delighted with this signing. We as a collective group of supporters now need to respond by helping to fund the signing over the next ten months by donating to the Squad Builder and by supporting the events run by the Independant Supporters Club”.

 

To help raise funds the club have joined forces with Squad Builder to offer a unique opportunity for a supporter to have the Popular Stand named after them for the 2012 Season. The winning ticket holder will receive a Vice-Presidents season ticket package and the privilege of having the Popular Stand being known to as “The (Insert Winners Name Here) Popular Stand”, including signage on the stand itself and all media outlets will also be encouraged to refer to the stand by it’s new name. 

The draw will take place at half time during the Northern Rail Cup home game against Gateshead Thunder on Sunday 26th February with the unveiling of the re-named stand at the first home league game of the season against Halifax on Sunday 18th March.

There will be a limited number of 50 tickets on sale to supporters for £50 each and all money received will go into the Squadbuilder Fund. For further details see Simon Hall at Sundays match. Tickets will also be available from the club office.
