York land former NRL star Joel Edwards
York have signed Joel Edwards from Limoux Grizzlies on a deal until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old played 107 first-grade games in the NRL for Canberra Raiders, Newcastle Knights and Wests Tigers before taking up an opportunity to play in the French Elite One Championship with Limoux Grizzlies in 2018.
Edwards is a back-rower by trade but can also fill in the front-rower and at loose forward and will add size to the Knights pack.
York coach James Ford said: “I’m delighted to bring Joel to York, pending RFL paperwork.
“He’s an incredibly talented footballer and someone who improves our squad at an important time in our season.
“I’d like to thank Jon [Flatman, Knights Chairman] for all his hard work in getting this deal over the line, as well as the fantastic fans and sponsors of the club who’ve made this happen.
“I’m looking forward to Joel linking up with the rest of the squad and making a positive contribution as soon as possible.”
