York’s women boost squad with Challenge Cup winner

Leeds Rhinos’ Beth Lockwood has jumped ship to York City Knights in the latest big transfer in the women’s game.

Lockwood, 19, was part of the Leeds Rhinos 2018 squad which went on to lift the Challenge Cup and came within two minutes of winning the Grand Final.

In a statement, Lockwood said: “I’m happy to have signed for York City Knights Ladies for 2019. I’m hoping to further adapt my skills and knowledge of the game while studying and learning here.

“The girls have made me feel like a part of the team from the very first training session and I’m excited about what we can achieve this year, especially while the ladies game continues to grow so much.”
