Young Toronto Wolfpack fan in tears after receiving player’s boots
A young Toronto Wolfpack supporter was left in tears after being given match-worn boots by hooker Andy Ackers.
Toronto Wolfpack global ambassador Sandy Shipley contacted Ackers a couple of days before the Wolfpack’s Championship Grand Final clash against Featherstone at Lamport Stadium in Canada, asking the player if her son could have a pair of his boots.
The Wolfpack beat Rovers 24-6 to gain promotion to Super League, where they will play in 2020.
After the match, Ackers gave his boots to Sandy’s son, who became emotional as he realised just what was in the bag.
Ackers tweeted: “Earlier on this week, I had a direct message on Instagram from Sandy Shipley and she kindly asked me could her boy have my playing boots after the game.
“I didn’t bat an eyelid and replied, of course. I’ve just received this video. How humbling? It’s the little things.”
