Zane Tetevano to face disciplinary hearing after red card
Leeds forward Zane Tetevano will face a disciplinary hearing following his dismissal for a late tackle in the Rhinos’ 26-18 Challenge Cup defeat by St Helens.
The New Zealand and Cook Islands international, who was sent off four minutes into the second half of Saturday’s third round tie for the challenge on half-back Theo Fages, has been charged by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel with a Grade D offence of striking.
Tetevano, who was playing only his third game for Leeds, is facing a ban of between three and five matches as he prepares to appear before an operational rules tribunal on Tuesday.
Warrington winger Tom Lineham has been given a three-match penalty notice for a Grade C offence of striking off the ball during his side’s 32-8 Cup win over Swinton on Sunday.
Swinton’s Deane Meadows was handed a one-match penalty for a shoulder charge in that match.
Wigan prop Liam Byrne and Wakefield back rower Kelepi Tanginoa were both given one-match penalty notices for Grade B offences in the weekend’s Challenge Cup ties.
Huddersfield prop Luke Yates avoided a ban for a minor dangerous tackle offence in his side’s win over Leigh while the panel issued cautions to James Green (York), Matt Gee (Leigh) and Jack Wells (Salford).
